Letter From Mr. Girimonte- Athletic Director
Hello Dixon High School Community,
Welcome back to another thrilling year of Dixon High School athletics! 2009-2010 was one of the most successful years in the history of DHS athletics, and we were proud to raise the CVC Commissioner’s Cup All-Sport Championship Flag for the first time ever at the end of last season. Credit for our teams’ successes is due to our athletes, volunteer coaches, parents, and community. All of these components came together to propel the Rams to glory in our final year in the CVC!
Despite our success in the CVC, we look forward to our new league this year, the GEL. Longtime DHS fans will remember that DHS spent a number of years in this league in the early 2000’s. We are excited to reacquainting ourselves with our new friends on the field, court, diamond, course, and pool. Our new league consists of the following schools:
- Dixon High School
- Capital Christian (Rancho Cordova)
- Lindhurst
- Marysville
- Mesa Verde (Citrus Heights)
- West Campus (Sacramento)
As we join this new league, we want to remind all our athletes, parents, and supporters to make a good impression for Dixon and Dixon High School. Let’s be good hosts when teams visit us, and gracious guests on their turf!
It is imperative that I thank some individuals for the work they have put in to make this season possible. First and foremost, I would like to thank all the coaches who volunteer their time to work with our students. The mentorship and guidance they provide is invaluable. Second, I would like to thank the various community members and organizations who have stepped forward to support our athletic program during these difficult financial times. Finally, I need to thank Mrs. Norma Holtmeyer, without whom our office and program simply would not run.
As we move through our first sports season at Dixon High School, there are a couple of reminders I want to give to our supporters. First, please remember that the players on the field are students. We expect them to play hard and to play honorably, but we also realize they are not infallible. Please limit your comments to positive encouragement for our student athletes. Furthermore, you, like our students, represent the community of Dixon. Traveling to other venues in your Dixon High School green is a wonderful way to support our teams, but you must follow the CIF code of conduct and behave in a manner that makes our athletes proud.
Finally, you will notice various fundraisers our athletic boosters and teams are implementing to supplement their budgets this year. Please donate when you can, as this money goes to our students to improve their experiences as student athletes at DHS!
Have a great time supporting our team and thank you for your continued support of Dixon High School Athletics.
Best,
Nick Girimonte
